Lifeline Advance
Add depth and highlights to your home and maximize the performance of your Lifeline stain with a clear topcoat. Lifeline Advance Satin & Advance Gloss are specially formulated to outperform all other water-borne clear coats on the market today.
Lifeline Advance significantly improves the appearance of the stain and enhances the color, clarity, and depth of the overall finish. You home will take on the appearance of a lacquered piece of furniture.
Some of the highest performance ingredients simply can not be incorporated in colored stain because colored stain must contain pigment. Lifeline Advance allows us to use these high performance ingredients that impart optimized film hardness, higher surface smoothness, and take advantage of a different UV protection technology.
Lifeline Advance forms a thin, elastic, breathable barrier that may easily be maintained every three to five years. Its smooth surface also helps prevent dust and pollen buildup which makes washing your home easier than ever.
We are so confident in the durability of Lifeline Advance and our two-step finish system that we can offer an unprecedented warranty of protection. When applied over two coats of Lifeline Ultra 2 stain, we guarantee protection of your natural wood exterior for up to 5 years*.

Lifeline Acrylic Application Instructions
(Printer Friendly Version Here)
LIFELINE ADVANCE Gloss / Satin Clear Topcoat is designed to go over all LIFELINE exterior finishes. In addition to enhancing the beauty of the finish, its advanced formulation imparts an extra measure of water repellency and ultraviolet (UV) resistance along with mold and mildew protection to extend the life of your stain. Since any LIFELINE exterior finish can be applied over an existing coat of LIFELINE ADVANCE Gloss or Satin, future maintenance will be simple and easy to perform.
Application Tips
- Mix well before using.
- Brush out drips and runs as soon as you see them.
- Allow the first coat to dry before applying subsequent coats.
Application Instructions
DO NOT APPLY TO BARE WOOD. LIFELINE Advance Gloss or Satin Clear Topcoat is
designed to go over all LIFELINE exterior finishes. However over white pigmented
stains we recommend using only Advance Satin, not Gloss. In addition to
enhancing the beauty of the finish, its advanced formulation imparts an extra
measure of water repellency and ultraviolet (UV) resistance along with mold and
mildew protection to extend the life of your stain. Since any LIFELINE exterior
finish can be applied over an existing coat of LIFELINE ADVANCE Gloss or Satin,
future maintenance will be simple and easy to perform.
STEP #1: INSPECTION
Check over your existing finish to make sure it is in good condition.
If necessary, apply a new coat of LIFELINE stain or touch up those areas that
show signs of wear or weathering.
STEP #2: SURFACE PREPARATION
All surfaces should be free of dirt, dust, mold and mildew. Use
appropriate materials to clean and prepare surfaces. If more than a week has
passed since the surface was stained, we recommend washing down the logs with an
appropriate cleaning solution such as Log Wash™, rinse well and allow to dry
before applying LIFELINE Advance. Request a copy of “Caring For Your Dream Home”
from any Perma-Chink Systems office for information about cleaning your logs. DO
NOT USE LIFELINE ADVANCE ON SURFACES THAT HAVE BEEN BRUSHED OR RUBBED WITH STEEL
WOOL. IF YOU DO, RUST SPOTS MAY APPEAR UNDER THE FINISH.
STEP #3: APPLICATION
COVERAGE RATE – Coverage is approximately 800 – 1000 square feet per
gallon depending on wood texture. LIFELINE ADVANCE Gloss or Satin may be applied
over existing stains, topcoats, caulks, chinking or other sealants. DO NOT USE
THINNERS.
STIR THOROUGHLY before and regularly during use. LIFELINE Advance may be applied
with a brush or airless sprayer. DO NOT APPLY TO HOT SURFACES OR IN DIRECT
SUNLIGHT. Do not apply when the surface temperature is below 40° F or above 90°
F. Back brushing is required to avoid drips and runs and to achieve optimum
performance.
We recommend that you make a test application on a small area to get a feel for
the product before you start on an entire wall. Apply no more than two coats at
a time. Dry and cure time will vary with the method of application, type of
surface, age and texture of the wood. Typically LIFELINE ADVANCE will dry to the
touch in 30 to 45 minutes but complete cure requires 72 hours.
LIFELINE Advance should always be applied in thin coats. Wait for the first coat
to dry (at least two hours depending on temperature and humidity) before
applying a second coat. Always back brush to ensure even coverage and to avoid
visible drips and runs.
STEP #4: CLEANUP
Clean area and equipment immediately with warm, soapy water. For
sprayers and other commercial equipment, follow the manufacturer's directions.
For removing LIFELINE Advance that has dried, soften with alcohol or mineral
spirits and then clean with warm water. Please do not pollute our environment.
Dispose of containers and unused material in accordance with local, state, and
federal regulations.
STEP #5: MAINTENANCE
Periodic cleaning with an appropriate cleaner such as Log Wash™ helps
extend the life of the finish and accentuates the beauty of your home. We
recommend that log walls be washed down at least twice a year. Wood checking,
cracking and shrinkage may eventually expose unprotected wood. Apply periodic
maintenance coats as needed paying special attention to the south and west sides
of the home as they may have greater exposure to the elements.
STEP #6: STORAGE
Store LIFELINE Advance out of direct sunlight and protect from
freezing. Although LIFELINE Advance is freeze-thaw stable, if the product is
accidentally frozen, allow to thaw, mix well and check for suitability of use
before applying.
